Automotive Applications

Automotive Manufacturing process

01

(sheet metal) Stamping

  • Sheet metal rolls cutting. Once rolled out, sheet metal is flattened and cut into flat elements. The press lines are equipped with tools for forming / trimming / drilling / bending
  • Parts location + identification on a the conveyor belt
  • Bin picking to feed tooling machines
  • Robotic guidance for press unloading

02

Sheet metal assembly

  • First stage of manufacturing of the car body with the addition of stamped parts to create “units”. The production of these units constitutes the base body onto which opening parts (doors / fenders) are mounted before being painted
  • Subsets inspection
  • Bin picking of parts to be put on the car body
  • Robotic guidance for precise removal of parts on body of the vehicle

03

Paint

  • Preparation of the vehicle before painting (watertighness, anti-chip beads )
  • Painting of the base body in white
  • Robot guidance for precise application on the body

04

Final assembly

  • Mounting of engine parts: front axle/ rear axle, dashboard, windshield and assembly with the underbody.
  • Kiting of parts for mounting / assembly
  • Robotic guidance for assembly with body detection
  • Windshield installation
  • Wheel mounting
  • Bin picking for mechanical parts:
  • Engine block
  • Brake pads (Crankshaft Steering knuckle)

VISIO NERF partners with the largest car manufacturers.

For certain applications, a specific sensor is placed on a seventh spindle placed near the glue nozzle. During bead extrusion, the sensor scans the bead to determine its height and volume in order to ensure consistency. Moreover, the sensor is also able to calculate a gun opening delay to allow perfect bead joins.

Manufacturing process for front and back engine

01

Foundry

  • Raw foundry parts arrival
  • Identification of parts on the conveyor belt
  • Bin picking to supply tooling machines
  • Robotic guidance for unloading from the press
  • Inspection of raw parts

02

Tooling

  • Machining of raw parts (turning, milling)
  • Identification of parts on the conveyor belt
  • Bin picking to supply tooling machines
  • Inspection of machined parts

03

Treatment

  • Loading of bins or swing trays for surface treatment
  • Robotic guidance for precise removal from bins or swing trays

04

Assembly

  • Assembly of engine parts
  • Kiting of parts for mounting/assembly
  • Bin picking for mechanical parts
  • Check conformity of the assembly
